In order to achieve the Vision and Mission, this centre has been setup to attain the following objectives :

 

To raise societal awareness, motivation and influence the stakeholders and to provide policy inputs to the principal decision-makers to use electronic technologies as a tool of providing transparent, efficient and productive governance and of catalyst for the development process of the economy in Bangladesh.

 

To work with government, national and international organizations to contribute to the growing knowledge base on e-Governance and to assist transition to e-government up to e-democracy. 

 

To promote, train and conduct research in ICT technologies and innovative e-governance practices applicable to Bangladesh especially in the rural Bangladesh and to design services to meet the convenience of the citizens rather than the convenience of service providers

 

To promote Public-Private-Partnership in e-Governance for promoting national level standards institutions and for establishing core e-Governance infrastructure by encouraging collaborative work, proposing alliances and specific work groups.

  

To build nation-wide holistic capacity for implementing e-Governance effectively and efficiently.

 

To measure and monitor the progress of the public sector in improving citizen satisfaction with public-sector service delivery, and develop the means to recognize excellence in citizen-centred service.

 

To be a centre of expertise in E-government and electronic service delivery (i.e. the development of publications, training modules and other management tools) and to create 'Virtual BCEG (www.egov.net.bd)' to disseminate E-governance architecture, standards and best practices to promote the improvement of service delivery across the public sector.

 

To perform all such other Acts as may be necessary for the achievement of the Vision, Mission and objectives of the organization setout as above.

 

     

BCEG, in furtherance of its objects, may exercise any or all of the following activities in Bangladesh or elsewhere, namely:

 

To establish, maintain and operate information and data centers and facilities for research and other activities.

 

To initiate and carry out research and technical development, including the establishment and operation of any pilot plant or project, to the point where the appropriate results of the research and development can be applied.

 

To support or assist research by governments, by international, public or private organizations and agencies, or by individuals.

 

To enter into contracts or agreements with governments, with international, public or private organizations and agencies, or with individuals.

 

To sponsor, support or organize conferences, seminars, workshops and other meetings to facilitate the

exchange of information between the network's participants.

 

To facilitate networking of communities of interest, expertise and practice in the Asia Pacific Region and

world-wide by sharing and dissemination of information, ideas, and management of knowledge. 

 

To publish Journal, research Magazines, Newsletters and Pamphlets on e-Governance and strategic use of ICT.

 

To conduct or sponsor promotional campaign on e-Governance and strategic use of ICT specially through Television and print media

 

To maintain a website to publicize its activates and to make the research data available for the interested individuals or organizations.

 

To carry out all such other acts as may be necessary for the achievement of the objectives of the Organization.
